An engineering vehicle whose chassis is mounted to tracks is a track loader. A track loader has tracks that are very similar to a military tank, unlike most passenger or commercial vehicles that have wheels under their chassis. The Three Concept Stages:-
1. The creation of the modern track loader began when track tractors with scratch-built loading extensions were produced. They were modelled and therefore cable-operated along similar lines to the bulldozers of the day. These machines were unable to dig into the earth, like bulldozers, and were mainly used for moving materials and filling vehicles.
2. Following this, incorporation of hydraulic systems was the next significant design improvement that was implemented into these devices. The benefit of using hydraulics was that the loader’s total power was improved. These loaders could now apply downward pressure to the loading bucket as a consequence of the increased strength, which gave them the capacity to dig the soil. Most of these track loaders will face a great deal of wear on the undercarriage at the time. In particular, the front idler wheels would get worn out faster than the other components as the loader’s design was based on bulldozers where heavier components were mounted on the front end of the track loader.
3. The hydrostatic drive mechanism was the next breakthrough in this machine. This workhorse of a machine unexpectedly turned into a sophisticated machine with the introduction of advanced technology including hydrostatic transmissions and electro-hydraulic controls. These were basically the machines of choice before the advent of sophisticated excavators on most digs and construction sites. Due to economic factors as well as their flexibility of operation, excavators are rapidly finding favour with most construction companies.
